Independent regional intelligence

Southeast Europe, beyond the headlines

Independent intelligence for business, investment, trade and travel

BalkansNetwork: Where I Want to Take This Project

BalkansNetwork is still young. I prefer to say that openly. I am not interested in making it look bigger than it is. I am interested in making it useful.

The idea is simple: I want to build a place that helps people understand where business is moving across Southeast Europe and, when it matters, helps the right people find each other.

I have worked for years between Italy, Russia, Turkey and the Balkans. One thing keeps repeating itself. Opportunities are rarely the real problem. The problem is that they are disconnected.

A Serbian manufacturer may have exactly what an Italian buyer needs and still remain invisible to him. A Turkish company may see potential in the Balkans but have no idea who to trust or where to start. An investor may read ten reports and still not know which local companies are actually worth a conversation.

That is the space I want BalkansNetwork to occupy.

Not another news site

I do not want to win by publishing more. I want BalkansNetwork to win by being more useful.

We will cover companies, manufacturing, investment, trade, infrastructure, logistics and institutions, but the question behind every story should be practical: what does this change for someone trying to do business in the region?

Today BalkansNetwork looks mainly like an editorial platform. My goal is to push it further. Company discovery, direct interviews, practical market intelligence, regional business maps and relationships between people who would otherwise never meet should gradually become part of the same project.

Where this can go

I want an entrepreneur in Milan to use BalkansNetwork before entering Serbia. I want a manufacturer in the Balkans to be discovered by buyers outside the region. I want a Turkish company looking west to find more than statistics. And I want institutions and chambers of commerce to have a serious place where they can explain real opportunities without turning everything into a press release.

Expo 2027 in Belgrade will be one of the moments when international attention on the region becomes much stronger. I want BalkansNetwork to use that moment well: not simply to report on the event, but to meet companies, interview decision-makers and follow the projects, investments and relationships developing around it.

If, in a few years, somebody opens BalkansNetwork because they are considering doing business in Southeast Europe and finds a company, a person or an opportunity they would not have found elsewhere, then the project will have done what I had in mind from the beginning.

I want BalkansNetwork to become useful enough that people come back not for more content, but for better connections.

We are not there yet. But that is where I am taking it.
